Right after the potluck, we cleaned up and be ready for the next activity which is more related to culture, presenting our prepared artifact. Vietnam has dozens of different artifacts which represent the country itself like the traditional costume Ao Dai or the national blossom Hoa Sen. But it is quite difficult to find them here except one wonderful product coming from Vietnam, Nuoc Mam (Fish Sauce). This tasteful spice is made by fermenting rotten fish in a closed wooden cabin (normally) after years, and it is extracted out, results in a red-brown polished odorous liquid. Vietnamese uses Nuoc Mam for mostly all the dishes. And the best place to produce Nuoc Mam is Phu Quoc Island. The place is resourceful of fish and the climate. My family has a house at that place, and whenever I fly from Vietnam to there, the smell of the fish sauce firstly comes directly to my nose. Even though Nuoc Mam is a wonderful spice, believe me, you do not want it leaves a stain on your clothes. It will smell and it is hard to remove.
